Directors’ Notes:

The search for belonging, social pressures, and the value of tolerance and acceptance between cultures and religions are just a few of the issues that are explored in the film. Sara Čolić's goal in making this film is to introduce the audience to her origin. People with an ex-Yugoslavian background continue to frequently face stereotypes in Switzerland and other parts of the world. Co-director Aline Bavier also sees the film as an opportunity to learn more about the culture through the close relationship between aunt and niece. Additionally, the two co-directors believe that Balkan cinema has a lot more to offer than just war-related films. Therefore, they would like to see more films about the Balkans shown from a different perspective. The film also hopes to inspire individuals to take their fate into their own hands, and not wait for things in life.
