LEAVING TRACES
VIDEO ESSAY 1'26'' / 2020
Relying on my own intuition, which left traces in the film. The central subject in the film "Hiroshima Mon Amour" by Alain Resnais, is the relationship between time and memory. In this short video essay, a new temporal level emerges as I myself intervene in the present in the selected film scene. I follow the movements of the hands and outline the bodies with a black pen. The focus is on the hands on three different image layers as well as in the dialogue. Nevertheless, the video essay creates a free space for individual interpretation.
This short video essay was created in the context of film theory classes at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, led by my lecturer Johannes Binotto.
